Her career began with 15 years at MAFF/Defra, where she played a pivotal role in shaping rural economic policies and initiatives on both a regional and national scale.

As an independent consultant, Emma has established a reputation for delivering practical, results-focused solutions. She has led significant programmes such as the Rural England Prosperity Fund and Defra’s Farm Resilience Programme and Defra’s England Rural Development Programme, showcasing her expertise in managing multi-partner projects and teams and securing funding. Over her career, she has unlocked £8 million in public funding for rural projects worth £22 million, supporting everything from farm diversification to innovation in food and farming enterprises.

Currently chairing Anglia Rural Consultants and serving on CLA national and regional committees, Emma is a collaborative leader who excels in crafting strategies that foster rural business resilience and sustainability.
